Scumbria,

>>I don't know much about it, so I will have to abstain.<<

I love an honest answer. Is it possible that there is something here that could sway you towards Rambus? Shibumi used to talk about this (he hasn't been around for quite a while). He said that almost all the engineers at Rambus are analog people. There's other people on this thread that have talked about it more recently. I think John Walliker is one. Can someone please brief Scumbria on the analog argument?

For the record: Scumbria was the first one to say that Rambus would have a big edge in graphics applications. And before that he said it could replace SDRAM if it could be made cheaply enough.

>>It would make DRDRAM a viable choice for Timna products, and would be very beneficial to the product line.<<

Does Rambus bring extra costs to the mother board or is it cheaper? At 10% premium it wouldn't make sense to use SDRAM would it?

>>I haven't heard about it. Do you have any pointers?<<

I'm not sure it's that big an issue. Here is a response by Tenchusatsu to a Dan3 post:

He's a real charmer.

Oh well, that shoots my multiple-personality theory: two super-smart techies, both had dogs for 13 years that died recently, both live in Si Valley, one started a new career about the same time the other one retired early...
