Hello Mr. Wexler:
Hmmm, today is Thursday. How about Friday with investments? Sparks or flames optional.
Best regards,
m

C'mon Bill, showing solidarity with Anthony isn't the way to do battle--your battle is with the scamsters! Take a long relaxing break, and come back now, you hear? Don't say sayonara permanently--be a little Clintony and leave room to maneuver!

Seriously, we will miss you here too much--come back after a break.

Ciao and good luck,

Yamakita

I'm not believing my eyes. Say it ain't so, Bill.

Well, I can't tell you what to do, but I hate to think I have to pay Anthony to see what you have to say. Seems a bit convoluted a path to take just to see how you are doing after all these years.

I have not been following the SI/Anthony debate, but I'd guess it has something to do with mentioning his site on SI.

I'll be very sad to see you go Bill.

Peter

Bill,
I am very sorry to here this news. As far as I am concerned you were the most creditable person posting on SI. I always checked your thread first. Thanx for all your posts and I hope you will return.... The sooner the better.
Ray

Bill,

Sorry to see you go. I only discovered your thread last year, and wish I had sooner. In truth, I will probably soon follow. It's not much fun here and it's not that different from Yahoo anymore.

Unfortunately, there seems to be very little middle ground in between Tony's $600 a month site and the free ones. I'd happily pay $20-50 per month for a place with the kind of quality SI once had.

I posted the following on the A@P thread, basically summarizes why I think they've lost it completely, and why things will not be the same on any public or semi-public board.

It's copied. I don't want to link, too many deletions on the other thread.

---------------------------
Face it, they're concerned with the biz of the moment.
The biz of the moment is measured in page hits and ad dollars.

That's the reason behind the site redesign, even though most subscribers liked the old one better. It wasn't conducive to ads.

That's the reason they have been tolerating an unbearable level of spammers lately. People who would have been kicked out in a day last year are allowed to freely post their drivel on dozens of threads simultaneously.

And THAT'S why they don't care about me, A@P or anybody else who is "grandfathered" in a way that makes it impossible to foist advertising on us. They'd just as soon have us all go away, as they make absolutely zero off us anymore, and we don't count towards the media metrix numbers that WS analysts love to talk about.

If they can get all the old-time users to leave by kicking out a few popular figures, they'll be happier. To them, I'm just deadweight putting a load on their server.

The reaction so far seems to be working. Several other major posters here have announced their intention to move on, or have just stopped posting.

I will be looking for greener pastures as well. The signal to noise ratio here is almost as bad as Yahoo, and getting worse. A victim of the battle for "page views."
