Today's economic data:

U.S. investors will have several pieces of
economic data to mull over Thursday morning. Before
the market opens, the Commerce Department will
issue another reading on second-quarter GDP.
Analysts polled by Reuters anticipate that the revised
annual growth rate will come in at 1.8 percent, after
an initial showing of 2.3 percent.

Also, the Labor Department will release its
weekly jobless claims report. Analysts expect claims
rose to 291,000 for the week ended Aug. 20, from
287,000 the week earlier.

Also expected are minutes from the Federal Open
Market Committee's June 29-30 meeting. Observers
hope the remarks will yield some clues about Fed
policymakers' long-term thinking on monetary policy
and the direction of interest rates.
