CSCO purchase of Cerent Corp. (Slightly + for JDSU per briefing.com)

Briefing:
SC Cowen saying that CSCO acquisitions could be a positive for Advanced Fiber Communications (AFCI), and a negative for Tellabs (TLAB). AFCI owns about 5% of Cerent, so deal worth about $4.50/share to AFCI. Deal could be viewed as slight negative for Tellabs, which competes with Cerent in high-speed data technology with its TITAN. May also remove any takeover speculation in Ciena. Similarly, CSFB saying that acquisitions likely to spur a wave of consolidation in the optical systems market as telecom players (LU, NT, TLAB and others) respond with acquisitions to enhance time to market and capability in select industry segments. CSFB believes optical component players such as JDS Uniphase (JDSU) will emerge as beneficiaries as innovation accelerates
in the market creating enhanced opportunities for leading merchant suppliers.
