Thanks. That helps. I like the idea of BRCM buying TERN. I think Cisco owns about 20% and one of the cable operators, I believe Shaw, has a sizable chunk as well. There may be others. A deal might be pretty complicated to pull off.

In light of the potential downsides for TERN in participating in 1.2 development, and the obvious downsides to BRCM from possible loss of market share to TERN or others, maybe 1.2 is "all but dead" as suggested by an earlier poster. BRCM may just continue to own a large fraction of U.S. market, and TERN may continue to garner sizable fraction of global market.
Maybe.
