From TLAB board:

SC Cowen saying that CSCO acquisitions could be a positive for Advanced Fiber Communications (AFCI), and a negative for Tellabs (TLAB). AFCI owns about 5% of Cerent, so deal worth about $4.50/share to AFCI. Deal could be viewed as slight negative for Tellabs, which competes with Cerent in high-speed data technology with its TITAN. May also remove any takeover speculation in Ciena. Similarly, CSFB saying that acquisitions likely to spur a wave of consolidation in the optical systems market as telecom players (LU, NT, TLAB and others) respond with acquisitions to enhance time to market and capability in select industry segments. CSFB believes optical component players such as JDS Uniphase (JDSU) will emerge as beneficiaries as innovation accelerates in the market creating enhanced opportunities for leading merchant suppliers.

Scares me too. I sold some of my position in Dell a couple months ago to buy CMTN and JDSU. Now all three are moving. I would like to lock in some profit somewhere, but the greed factor is kicking in on me

I guess my view is that JDSU is to CSCO/NT/LU what AMAT (semi equip maker) is to INTC/AMD. This could be the beginning of a very LT trend if optical networking comes to pass as many are expecting, but with it's ups and downs naturally...

Is this a good analogy techies?
