I press the power button from time to time. I hate having to do things this way, but when computer is giving me the 'silent treatment' I have no choice. About a third of the time, ScanDisk finds something to complain about. I guess the other two thirds I'm just lucky.

Fixing the mess ALWAYS takes longer than a proper shutdown, so given a choice, I take the easy way, which is also the recommended way, and shutdown properly.

If you NEVER had any troubles pressing the button to shutdown, just imagine the pressure your computer's gremlins are under from the system devil to create a REALLY BIG MESS when they get the chance.

Hope this helps, PW.
