I agree. You have to go with what works. Thankfully in your case, it didn't cause any harm.

No offense was intended, and the suggestion is always welcome, I just disagreed with it due to past experiences with implementing the same solution.

Different everytime. It all depends on what software and hardware are installed in the box, and the dependency the hardware has on settings used in those two files. Registry shared settings can also be an issue. Like usual though, problems would become much more likely the more software you have installed in the current windows setup.

Please do forward that other suggestion from Symantec regarding the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. I'm quite curious as to what they say.
