ATHM has been good to my IRA as a covered call vehicle. I have held ATHM 3 times, selling calls 5 times against them.

My current position, entered 8/16/99 is:

Bought ATHM at 39 1/8
Sold AHQIH at 3 3/4 (September, strike = 40)

Breakeven at September 17 (18 actually) expiration is 35 3/8
Profit if above 40 is 4 5/8
If below 40, sell October calls

If entering a position today (I wouldn't, expect a small pullback) it would be:

Buy ATHM at ~42
Sell AHQJT at 4 5/8 (October, strike = 42.5)

Breakeven at October 15 (16 actually) expiration is 37 3/8
Profit if above 42.5 is 5 1/8
If below 42.5, sell November calls

I'm a bit conservative in the IRA and like covered calls for that reason. You have downside "buffering" at the cost of some upside potential.

Good luck,

Ira
