If history is anything to go by, I would say it promotes the use of TMS at Cisco. For the following reasons.

1. WIND and VxWorks are part of Cisco's NetWorks program.

2. If you search Cisco's website you will see lots of jobs for programmers familiar with VxWorks.

3. MMC has licensed TMS and they are probably the major supplier of networking chips to Cisco.

4. Cerent has shipped many beta products with TMS. I am sure customers would not appreciate a change of software at this stage and the associated delays. Why spent $6.9 Billion and then re-engineer a product ?

5. Cerent was partly funded by Cisco to begin with. They did not insist on IOS then so why should they now ?

It looks to me like Cisco is not backing away from WIND. All in all I think that WIND has achieved quite a strategic position/role at Cisco. What do you think ?
