More pink slips expected at Compaq By Joe Wilcox Staff, CNET News.com August 26, 1999, 8:20 a.m. PT Compaq Computer is expected to hand out more pink slips tomorrow as part of an ongoing restructuring, said sources close to the company. While the exact number of employees to be dismissed is not known, Compaq CEO Michael Capellas said last month as many as 8,000 layoffs are expected. Sources close to Compaq said the ax will fall in many divisions. Areas likely to see layoffs are those groups that focus on small and medium businesses, the distribution/sales organization, and the enterprise and services group, which accounts for more than half of Compaq's revenue. Manufacturing operations and administration will be heavily hit in all areas. That is right where DELL is hitting them the most. It's sad to see. G

steven....ot ot ot ...all one has to do is read your postings, a continuous stream of nothingness, you responding to that which is not directed to you, and always negative, critical of all....i've yet to see anything of substance....you snatched the banner of "idiot" the last go round...once an idiot, always an idiot....respond in your usual childish manner...you can have the last word...more important things in life then your lack of ability to communicate on a constructive level......try hard, come up with an idea or concept, share it... and if you are the guardian of truth on the thread, so be it......
