I'd rather bet on ATT than AOL. Possession is 90% of the law afterall. AOL does not have federal support behind it except for senators from its home base and a few others on their dole. Besides ATT has a PE of 20 and AOL what? 200? And with free ISP access on its way, I'd be more worried about their growth prospects. There will indeed be a compromise someday but don't expect ATT to cave in to AOL and others' demands. And if AOL has to pay lot for access where's their profit from then on? Also AOL will lose subscribers to DSL then cable At-Home. And as for content they con't have anything which Yahoo doesn't have, which is free to everyone. In a year I'll bet ATT has doubled and AOL is right about where it's at now. In fact I'll bet ATT can double every year for 3-4 years. Whereas AOL will have trouble every doubling.

Interesting commentary. One point I missed was how T gave a substantial portion of it's Internet customer base to ATHM. I forget the details of this, but can they take these customers back? If not, they also stand to loose a big position as ISP.
