Vodafone raises stake in Italy's Omnitel
LONDON, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Vodafone AirTouch Plc on Thursday said it had increased its indirect stake in Italian mobile phone operator Omnitel Pronto Italia to about 21.6 percent from 17.8 percent by exercising an option.

Vodafone Airtouch, the world's biggest cellphone company, said the option was held under an agreement with other Omnitel shareholders. Vodafone, which increased the stake through its wholly-owned subsidiary AirTouch (Europe) B.V., did not reveal the terms.

Omnitel, Europe's second largest mobile operator, is 55 percent owned by Germany's Mannesmann (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: MMNG.F).
