Interesting points. I do seem to remember that MSFT made
a fairly significant investment in TCI and were angling for
a post-position with WinCE in the set-top-box market. As
I recall they expected to get the full 20 million that
TCI was going to produce. In the end, TCI made its own
decision to let Java in on the deal and, in fact, gave
SUNW the bigger share of boxes (10 million???), and the
5 million awarded to MSFT's WinCE product also were to
include Java running on top.

AT&T, of course, is a different company so it's hard to say
what will happen. But I wouldn't characterize it as a
slam-dunk for MSFT...

Okay whatever. Please though do not include me in your "what we know". What you know is altogether different than what I know, apparently. Those things that I mentioned are a matter of public record (Senate testimony actually).

Given the accuracy of your knowledge, you may also want to double check your Java GUI facts as well.
