This just off the BusinessWire PR pipeline:

Sun will be making a significant announcement on Tuesday, August 31, 1999 in New York. Scott McNealy, Chairman and CEO, Ed Zander, President & COO, and other senior Sun executives will be on hand to make this strategic announcement.

It's at 10:00 EST. Anyone know what it's about? Star Division? Javastation? The announcement also says that Gene Banman will be the third Sun executive there. I believe he is the guy who built the original Javastations...don't know if he still does that.

But Qwik you do have to wonder why they acquired Star iff they have no intention to compete with Msft ? My reasons are:

1. Use to make a 'thin office suite' for Corona's.
2. Investment: Could be base of the first real MS office alternative and should thrive on UNIX and Linux.

Hmmmm
