I like the story about the duet. I don't sing well, hard to explain, Chris (and others) have said that my voice is good, but I don't stay on key, so I sing blues, in a contralto, mostly. I've always wanted to have a good singing voice, and I envy, terribly, those who do.

As for singing a duet, it sounds very sensual, but also pleasurable in the sense of sharing ~ well, it's not work, exactly, but something like that? Like my erstwhile partner and I at our big trial ~ we were better together than we ever were alone. So I understand, I think. Similar to athletes, maybe, co-operating in sports events, whoever handing the ball to Michael Jackson? Craftsmen working together to create art and beauty. There is something viscerally satisfying about it, when you are well matched with someone you respect.

Maybe you could get together one morning a week? Saturday or Sunday at a mall halfway between both of you? I am not suggesting you sacrifice yourself for her, but maybe there would be something in it for you, too. The fact that you posted about it suggests to me that you want to help her. If she won't put herself out, well, I wouldn't blame you if you did nothing, as a drowning person can drown her rescuers, too.
