Texasdude-You are a complete ignoramus! Your following line to Catherine regarding ISTPA pretty much says it all:

"My take is that these companies will merely try to set parameters for the industry."

Gee, Wave is there to contribute "MERELY to set parameters for the industry." MERELY???!!!! What industry are we talking about: The Texas Cattle Industry? Your "merely...parameters" statement has reference to the whole damn Electronic Industry! The goal of ISTA is "to Solve Security, Trust, and Privacy Issues in Electronic Business to Solve Security, Trust, and Privacy Issues in Electronic Business". Is this a consortium of 500 companies? I counted 16 founding companies. Why don't you check some of the companies involved:

The founding members of ISTPA include AMD, Bank of America, The Chase Manhattan Bank, Compaq Computer, CygnaCom Solutions, Cylink, IBM Corporation, Hewlett Packard, Intel, Motorola, Microsoft, NCR Corp., KPMG, Racal, TrustE and Wave Systems.

Pretty remarkable that Wave is sitting at the same table with the gorillas of the gorillas of the Electronic Industry. What is even more staggering is that WAVE was an OTC:BB stock only a few months ago!!!!! But of course, the man that calls himself the Texas Dude is not impressed. "Being a member of this group doesn't enhance WAVX or any other company over the next". That line is truly remarkable. If you believe that gibberish then my reference to you as an ignoramus was in fact a compliment.

And by the way, your statement regarding "parameters" is more than a bit restrictive. One critical underlying aim is to create standards. This is what Mark Greene, vice president, security, IBM Corporation, has to say:
"Our collaborative efforts to develop global, standards-based solutions are essential to support customers who are implementing online privacy policies.'

And by the way Texas Dude: The new standard is going to be the Embassy Trusted Client. You can bet your Texas cattle ranch on it.

Texas Dude--you somewhat strangely wrote: "Being a member of this [ISTPA] group doesn't enhance WAVX or any other company over the next," due to your belief that the likes of IBM will "cut the heart out of the other members of this group when it comes to trying to build a better mousetrap." Perhaps I'm just another "naive" poster, but I don't recall any of us (misled though we are in the eyes of a sophisticate such as yourself...) suggesting that any of these companies won't act in what they perceive to be their own self-interest, including Wave; joining ISTPA doesn't require any of the companies to renounce the fundamental rules of capitalism, but--and this seems, uh, rather obvious--I expect that the companies that joined this group believe that membership is to their advantage or they wouldn't have joined. These are busy people, after all (don't you think?), do you really believe that they have time to just dick around holding meaningless meetings? Furthermore, don't you believe it's at least in the realm of the possible that companies might join a group like this because it was mutually beneficial for them all?

You also wrote: "My take is that these companies will merely try to set parameters for the industry." Merely??? Even if you're right (which isn't a given, by any means), if you're a WAVX shareholder wouldn't you rather have your CEO at the table helping to establish the parameters of the industry?

Is it just that I've watched "Pollyanna" too many times (damn, I hate it when she falls out of that tree!)?

Waiting anxiously for your reply, but hoping it won't be a) yeah, but WAVX was at $29 and now it's at $10; b) yeah, but Wave has been around for 11 years and STILL has no revenue; or c) yeah, but Steven Sprague sold some shares six months ago...

Dear Mr. Dude:

Mouse trap? You must be thinking of another company. You better check your "to do" list again.

Catherine
