Texas Instruments completes Telogy buy

August 31, 1999 05:50 PM
DALLAS, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Computer chip maker Texas Instruments Inc. on Tuesday said it completed its previously announced $435 million stock swap acquisition of Telogy Networks Inc., a closely held provider of embedded communication systems. The company said the acquisition will strengthen its presence in the Internet telephony market, which uses Internet technology to send voice and data communication over the Internet.

Texas Instruments said the deal allows it to put its chip on Telogy's embedded software and sell manufacturers of voice over the Internet products -- modems and switches -- one complete package.

Telogy will continue to operate from its headquarters in Germantown, Md., as a wholly owned subsidiary of Texas Instruments.
