A Edwards, The advantage for the exisiting players (Tellabs, Lucent, Alcatel, Nortel and Fujitsu) is they have both a huge installed base and should be able to provide a smooth upgrade path for existing operators to next generation networks, which is easier than replacing existing networks."
I think the installed base and upgrade path are very important to carriers. The price Cisco paid makes tlab recent purchase seem cheap. My view is todays drop is related to the fact that Cisco is less likely to buy Tlab after their announced purchase today.
