First, we want to see institutional ownership increase. It is a vote of confidence in the future of the company and lends some stability, or at least a floor, to the stock price . . . as does inside ownership. Check the major corporations and you'll see institutional ownership has majority control. It's also protection against a predatory takeover offer. The institutional managers won't sell out for too low a price.

It also adds to the preconceived notion that the big boys "must" know something that warrants their increase in holdings. So if they're buying, I'm gonna get me some too...
