Thanks. Your analysis was interesting, and it makes me feel better about having let go of this one at 30. That is not to say I might not want back in at some point (or that the market can't send this one skyward without me), but given my short term desire for realized gains - I'm feeling better about the whole situation.

bernard,

i feel that the $1B est. u give from the un-named article is very subdued and modest...in 1998, americans spent $30B on wireless voice services and almost none on data...according to forrester, this will increase to $60B for wireless services and $8.4B on data by 2005... wireless broadband is the last to exploit their infrastructure(ie-cable,dsl over copper wires have already done this)...people have no real idea how many people will use this service in 5 yrs...but aol is betting that many will...a 1.5B investment into Hughes attests to this ...have u seen what nxtl, wwii and tgnt have done this yr?...many obviously feel that wireless will be important soon...and why has dish risen so fast?...for their movies?...i doubt it...5 yrs ago, many would have laughed if someone would have told them what the mkt. cap of co's like jnpr, rbak, csco,lu,cmtn, brcd, ffiv, efnt, brcm were going to be now...with time, it makes sense that society would use landlines less and less(cable, dsl) and go to wireless...imo wireless will ultimately win out... the est. on the LMDS equipment mkt. in 5 yrs assumes cable and dsl will dominate the broadband mkt. like they do now but i dont feel this will happen...if wireless can grab 1/3 of the future mkt. for broadband access, those estimates will change drastically....LMDS mostly deals with two way broadband radio service such as wireless cable television...netro's patented AirStar system has both an ATM and TDMA foundation, hence they have digital air interface technology that will ultimately be used in cellular,PCS and ESMR networks and i think we can all agree that people will be accessing the internet on pda's and cellphones quite soon from now...they already have the technology to allow for 1 GPS of data transmission...personally, i think it is shortsighted to sellout on this company already...we will mostly likey see much higher prices soon enough...for the e-commerce co's i would bail too if i had a good profit to take cause u never know who will win out with time, but when it comes to broadband backbone players, they will win no matter who sells the most or how many eyeballs a certain website can grab...netro will ramp for the same reasons jnpr, rbak, cmtn and brcd have exploded...if u dont like netro, u shouldnt like any of the others i have mentioned above, cause they are all ridiculously priced right now...but this doesnt stop them from going up and up...i think netro will hit 60-70 by christmas...jmho.

You forgot Hughes. Their P-MP OC3 is considered the current leading tech. Once it's available, I wonder who will deploy DS3s? Seimens purportedly has good OC3 P-MP radios as well.
