AOL may make this statement look misplaced.
While it seems ludicrously overvalued, its profits are growing at an astounding rate, and are likely to continue. The "free ISP" is a chimera, and while it would hurt AOL's revenues, it would likely HELP its profit figure as more people switched ISPs but went to the "bring your own access" model for $9.95. That is virtually ALL profit for AOL.
In addition, the Net ad market is poised to jump to at least $15 bb by the year 2002. AOL should take 1/2 of that, based on their viewership levels.
I wouldn't be surprised if AOL hits its old highs by year end. I suspect it will be at 120 in 2 weeks.

If you go back and look at AOL's chart, they took close to a 50% hit last year in August - October, then ran right back up to 170.
This year, the hit has occurred from April - August (a slightly longer TP), and has stabilized at 80 - 100 (mostly in the 95 range). Looks to me like it's basing to move up again.
