Dear jacques: ..we focus on a few outstanding companies, we're focus investors" - Warren Buffet
But, as I understand it Warren does NOT invest in Technology at all. I think it may be because he is an EXTREMELY long term investor and Technology moves so fast its hard to say who will be where in 5 years. For that reason I would caution about being TOO focused on only Technology stocks. Myself, I try and maintain a core portfolio of high quality Techs such as INTC, EMC and the like and a few lesser ones which I rotate or add too as they prove themselves. JDN

Jacques Newey. Re: "Great post Harry and very wise advice! Thanx. I appreciate your post.

Re: "...have either of you read Robert Hagstrom's new book "The Warren Buffet Portfolio"? Have not read this one, but reading his first gave me the confidence to go to all stocks in 1995. I follow his discounted cash flow model to project "owner earnings" for all my companies. I will seek out his second book.

And I have a book for you. The Essays of Warren Buffett by Lawrence Cunningham. This law professor selected, edited, and arranged Buffett's annual letters to focus on Buffett's investment philosophy. I learned about it from an advertisement, I believe, in Barrons. Let me know if you are interested and cannot track it down.

Hi Jacques, Re: "you read Robert Hagstrom's new book "The Warren Buffet Portfolio"? Amy, I would highly recommend the book"

Your post prompted me to purchase his first book.

Re: "if you are trying to decide whether to "lighten up" following the recent INTC price run."

Actually, I have a hard time selling INTC. I almost need encouragement to sell it because it is truly one of the best long-term investments. In this particular situation, I had bought more than usual on the last dip (the prices were getting better and better), and so, now, I sold and wrote calls on a little bit of this over the last few days. I never sell core Intel holdings, just a portion of a part which I pick up on dips.

Re: "Hagstrom's book proposes a "focused" approach"

- On core holdings, I agree.
