CdmaOne Automatic Roaming To Expand Through Asia

RDSL - 27 August 1999

Hutchison Telecom, IDO, DDI and Shinsegi Telecom, all CDMA operators, have signed agreements to provide subscribers in S Korea, Japan and Hong Kong with comprehensive cdmaOne automatic roaming services. The deals have been facilitated by GTE Telecommunications Services.

cdmaOne services are expected to be available in over 35 countries by end-2000, vs 29 countries currently. The CDMA Development Group, trade association which works with network operators and roaming infrastructure providers to facilitate roaming contracts, expects further roaming deals to be announced in Thailand, the Philippines, Australia and the US by end-1999.
