I do not understand the vitriol necessary to describe one's unhappiness with the new SI, particularly that aimed at someone else who has done nothing to deserve it.
I went to Stockhouse, registered, found it different, not much discussion, not at all like either SI.
Loved classic SI, used it when beta came out. Started using beta after awhile, got to like it which means it became familiar to me. Still use both. So what? Who cares?
This is rather a petty discussion. Please do not bother to flame me. This is also not aimed at anyone in particular.

did I strike a nerve with my Stockhouse reference?

No. And no to the second question as well.

As I said and have explained at greater length elsewhere, Stockhouse is the only financial site I've seen that is anywhere close to the graphic face of SI. But it misses on so many elements that SI gets right that, in the end, even it doesn't look much like the new SI.

Ingenious design!!!! Indeed, being the mindless, frustrated bovine that I am, I completely missed that, as I struggled to navigate the mucky, knee-deep, manure filled, cattle yard of the New SI!

That's too bad because if you can't see the ingenious design in the new SI, then you won't recognize it in the old SI either. The same essential message-base design is used in both. It's too bad that so many fail to recognize that most important element of the classic site and instead focus on preserving just the nearly accidental accoutrements of its graphic design. (And by the way, I think it's fine that they will be preserving those accoutrements, but just think it dangerous that so little attention is paid to the more important aspects of the UI design on these and the other boards where the new vs. old design is discussed.)
