Wally and All: Read this speech and ask yourself if he sounds like a man who will raise rates in October? No, not unless the data is absolutely compelling beyond question. He knows he has a potential bubble going into a seasonally weak period and he is concerned the crowd rapid response will be since it is all hooked up on-line and ready to pound the sell button. Now whether the market will or won't be worried about the data in September is another question but I don't think the Green Man wants to pierce the bubble and burst his career although I believe he would do his job regardless if the data warranted it: bog.frb.fed.us
