Fundamental,

The source of the money flows is Trim Tabs. Generally on Friday morning Maria Bartaroma (CNBC) reports on the latest release. Their accounting period is from Wednesday to Wednesday. They report on money flow into money market accounts and out of money market accounts into equities. That is the source of the money flow data, to the best of my knowledge. There are probably others that report it, but I know of that one. Typically, the non professional money does not short the market, so their money will sit in money market accounts waiting to be applied to equities on the next big upturn. That is where all of the volume and money came from last Tuesday. That would also account for the reduction of money on the sidelines someone on the thread alluded to this morning. If money sat in MM funds over last week and was counted and then exited Tuesday (before the Tuesday night cutoff) it would give the appearance of a net decrease of inflows, I think.
