I do not know the person to whom you refer, but the prophetic tradition, which the Pharisees, and hence Rabbinical Judaism, adhered to was conditional, which is the explanation for things like the Babylonian captivity....

What I know of theology - of any sort - could be engraved on my thumbnail with space left over. It is not a favorite study of mine, though it does seem to appeal to some.

Maybe the Assyrians solved that problem by disappearing Israel (the Northern Kingdom). No ones heard anything of the Lost Ten Tribes since. Perhaps the Babylonians tried to solve the other half of the problem by taking most of the top Judeans and Benjaminites to Babylonia, hoping they would have something more sensible to think about in captivity.
