Hello Robert, I had to make a choice between tradition and the Scripture, the choice was easy. Almost every book in the New Testament talks of a "soon" return of Jesus Christ and it is very hard to make 2,000 years "soon" by any hermeneutic. The major issue to me in all of this is the Inspiration of Scripture. Don't let tradition rob you of the precious truths which our Lord taught.

You mentioned laying aside pre-conceived ideas and doctrines. It is not easy to see the truth in Scripture if you are hobbled by ideas that you have been taught and had drilled into you even though you believe you are seeing the truth you do not have the proper foundation to begin with which to base deeper doctrines.

I still have a hard time understanding the concept that we are in the Kingdom age and that satan is not the ruler of this world, especially with the evil that men do.

However, we are born with an evil nature without satan's help and I know that we must be filled with the Holy Spirit to be an overcomer of our Adamic nature.

A person I know calls this change a paradigm shift in that we are able to toss out this old ideas and ask for fresh inspiration from God. I know that this shift was because Holy Spirit showed me a new perspective and understanding. The flower of understanding doesn't bloom until the soil has been properly prepared.

Thank you for taking the time to express your God given truths on the AG thread. (You never know when you might be reaching that lurker that needs the Lord desparately in his life.)

Santiago
