Quick View is an underused, under-appreciated feature of
Windows; it lets you quickly and safely see the contents of
documents without opening their associated applications.
To make it even quicker, create a shortcut to it,
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VIEWERS\QUIKVIEW.EXE, and then drag and
drop a file onto the icon to view it.

[note: i tried the above windows tip. created a quickview shortcut on the desktop, but the only thing i could drag and drop onto the icon was other desktop icons. the tip says lets you see the contents of documents..., but i don't know what docs they're referring to? i tried dragging word docs onto the quickview icon and i couldn't. any ideas? it's a cool feature for desktop icons, but i must be missing some other essential part of how to make this tip function.]
