You're trying to dredge up public misconceptions again. Most (over 90%) of funding for schools come from local taxes -- the feds have little or nothing to do with it. Where is there in the federal budget a $ 500 billion budget for public education? There are way too many incompetent teachers as it is. The question should be asked how effectively the public officials are using the current funds not appropriate more funds. The problem with schools is with the parents, teachers, and the students.

Budgets for law enforcement and criminal justice system are made separately from the school budgets. Again, almost all the budget is local. You're trying to dredge up local issues for which the federal government has little influence on outcomes.

I don't believe in creationism.

Private schools have the advantage of denying admissions. Public schools have to let in problem kids and babysit them while these kids deny others of their education.

You know, if Delay could ever get himself out of Midland Texas he might realize that diversity is upon us.

At least get your information right. Tom DeLay represents the 22nd District of Texas, which includes Brazoria, Fort Bend, and Harris Counties. You know....Houston? Only about 575 miles from Midland.
tomdelay.house.gov

Now if you said that only as a slam to Midland's conservative local gov. then praise God. The majority of OUR educators and gov. officials here DO believe in the only One I AM. We do not have to have the state or fed tell them what will be taught. Their lives by and large reflect what they believe.

Creationism in schools is just looney, very fringe

Yeah , so looney and fringe that the greatest country(IMO) ever built is based on it.

As Patrick Henry so aptly put it: IT CANNOT BE EMPHASIZED TOO STRONGLY OR TOO OFTEN THAT THIS GREAT NATION WAS FOUNDED, NOT BY RELIGIONISTS, BUT BY CHRISTIANS; NOT ON RELIGIONS, BUT ON THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. FOR THIS VERY REASON, PEOPLES OF OTHER FAITHS HAVE BEEN AFFORDED ASYLUM, PROSPERITY, AND FREEDOM OF WORSHIP HERE.

That very statement allows me to live next door to a Sunni Muslim, and have/and be a good neighbor , while in other countries, Muslims are even killing each other: sddt.com
