re: The financial metrics -- return on capital, capital build on so forth -- are pretty straightforward. You have to be blind not to see the financial results for the direct PC companies. This isn't a P/E-to-growth rate sort of problem and it's not a P/E-to-market or P/E-to-peers sort of proposition. It's a strategy question and the financial results will flow from there.

This article points out that some conventional financial measures fail to guide investors when evaluating Dell. Sounds like the problem internet companies used to face.
Cheers
Mike

Aloha Thread. Just back from a very extended and enjoyable summer on the mainland and am very pleased to see the continuing high quality contributions by so many who post here. Also very pleased to see both the stock price and the psychological perception of the company have both moved sharply up! Mike thanks for the superb article from the Motley fool, fool.com, it is one of the best pieces I've seen regarding Dell's business objectives. It will take me a while to catch up with these several months of my "normal" life, but I do look forward watching the Dell story unfold. Cheers.

Mike,
Hi!!!

RE:
From the Fool fool.com

This article should be saved by every DELL shareholder...An outstanding article which portrays the DELL direct model as unstoppable...
IMO the smile we saw on Michael's face the other day...CNBC held a great deal of this pride in what they were going to announce...This past week of DELLCONNECT is by far the greatest single week of significant announcements I can ever remember...If this stock drops anymore I may just mortgage the dog house..

BUY DELL...They're unstoppable

Best, Kemble
