Most people don't sell there stock if they expect it to appreciate. That may explain the low volume.

It is not likely that information would leak from Genome Securities. They are a three-person firm in Scranton, PA.

There will be offers for Cistron, because they have 8 figures in cash. Someone will at least offer the cash value, in order to get CIST's patents, royalties (tiny) and HMR deal potential for free.

A cash-strapped company might acquire CIST for stock at current value, which would be equivalent to selling shares without discount.

Yes, there will be offers.

Do you think CIST is using this news as leverage in the negotiations:

<<anticipates that there will be a further reduction of employees>>

It looks like severance pay is going to be an issue again next year.

CIST lost a few shareholders under the pressure:

"On August 31, 1998, there were approximately 735 holders of the Common Stock, excluding beneficial holders registered in nominee or street name."

"On August 31, 1999, there were approximately 722 holders of the Common Stock, excluding beneficial holders registered in nominee or street name."

You might think that more people would have been scared away.
