NASDAQ LISTING?

That seems the most rational path for this company to take right now. Cant do any harm for the stock or corporate exposure.

I think it is incorrect to say Cerent's technology is "certainly not as promising as Wi-LAN's".

Cerent has 287 employees and is involved in optical data transport, a sector exploding in growth. According to an article on the Motley Fool website, Cerent's product "is an optical transport device called the Cerent 454 that integrates multiple voice and data services operating at transmission rates up to 240 gigabits per second (Gbps) all in one box." This is 8000 times faster than Wi-LAN's 30 megabits per second. Cisco doesn't have anything like this so the purchase makes sense at almost any price. The product is designed to work within the epicenter of the web, and costs U.S. $20-50K each, and obviously is not oriented towards the small base station / home / end-user as Wi-LAN is.

As far as Wi-LAN is concerned, Wi-LAN has announced that it is demonstrating its technology, but Wi-LAN needs to move quickly to get the technology reduced to a size/form factor for the mass market, as someone else pointed out, Apple/Lucent now has a product in this area (the SpacePort).
