Whether it's true or not, you see that a lot in these situations. "My average is $0.25, so no matter what blah blah I'm still ahead." 2 translations : I am a very UNsuccessful, trader because I fail to take 10000% gains off the table. I don't understand the basic concept that if my stock was $20, and it is now $5, I have lost $15 per share no matter what the average cost is for those shares.
