What is inexplicable is the Greenspan apparently doesn't understand the supply/demand dynamic of the stock market.

Baby Boomers are in their peak earning years and have had it drummed into their heads that SS will not suffice and that they should max out their 401K's & IRA's. What would Greenspan have the country do? "Invest" in T-Bills and CD's? This market has been primarily driven by the top 50 stocks and there's plenty of room out there for the laggards to catch up. If he had said the "extraordinary rise" in the top 50, I might tend to agree with him.
