Wasn't Stranger than Paradise his first movie? I think all those "fade to black" portions of the movie were done out of necessity due to financial constraints, they weren't an artistic flourish as some critics were claiming. The guy's equipment was outdated and critics applauded his creativity thinking he was reviving an old technique!

My favorite character was the old aunt from Cleveland. Every time she won a hand of poker she would look them down all steely-eyed and say "I am de vinner."

I think that flick revived Screamin' Jay Hawkins career, didn't it? At least long enough for him to play the desk clerk in Mystery Train.

I will check out Night on Earth. Roberto Benigni steals all the jailhouse scenes in Down by Law. I love that guy. I have never heard of Leningrad Cowboys.
