That may be, and is one of the arguments going on in the art world, in two versions. One is, so to speak, revivalist; the other is post- modern, combining elements of tradition with mass culture and modernism. Of course, one of the revivals is a call for a strict modernism. Whether or not everything has been done, in the sense of large innovations, there remain plenty of gaps to fill in, and there is also the question of the future of mixed media. It could get interesting. Remember, not every period is as fertile as others...
