J.D.,
Thanks for both those good stories.

re >>In another instance, an attendee left the voluble Chambers speechless when he asked
how the Internet was going to affect his business -- trucking.

'You've tested the limits of my knowledge,' Chambers admitted.
The moment was instructive because, despite all the high- faluting talk about a coming
'sea change' in human existence, it raised the question of how much the Internet would
actually affect the day-to-day life of the average Joe.

That question has yet to be answered.<<

My cousin is an owner/operater of a semi-tractor. He hauls for a couple different companies and gets assignments, weather updates, news from home, quotes from his broker, etc. by email in his truck. He can do this at a rest stop or gas station, when his grandson is riding shotgun he does while rolling. Any day now he will be able to use a voice activated machine to do all this stuff when he is rolling alone. Did I mention finding where that particular warehouse is in a city he hasn't been sent to before? ggggg

JD,
Hi!!!

RE: Barrett, for example, said in his speech that the projected increase in connected users and E-commerce would create a demand for 'tens of millions' of servers over the next five years.

'We have roughly only 5 percent of the server backbone in place today that we'll need five years from now,' he said

Last Fall the DELL K-12 rep stopped at our high school to say hello...we also went all DELL...:o) Well, we had some interesting conversations (as you may imagine)...One thing I do recall quite clearly was a phrase he told me before he left.."Kemble, we have been told by DELL to think Servers...servers...servers...and if we wake up in the middle of the night the first thing we should think about is selling servers"..
I think this announcement by Barrett also explains why The Parmer Facility had a "footprint" next to it ready to go for more servers...OOOH my heavens...I can't imagine two of these operating at the same time..There are 35 truck ports on each side of Parmer..Round Rock had better widen the roads just for their truck traffic..
JD...BUY MORE DELL...
:o)

Best, Kemble
