The link references Intel's CEO telling a Dell audience that biometrics will be the way of e-commerce, and that's where Intel is going.

Unfortunately, I'd have to classify Intel as a competitor to IDX, since they have investments in Digital Persona and Veridicom and lined up against IDT and Compaq in the API war . . . which still isn't over, but has turned more into a guerrilla warfare by the Intel alliance. I'm not sure IDX is paying that much attention to it.

So I'd say this good find isn't necessarily good news.

Intel finds another non-IDX company to use for biometrics:

biz.yahoo.com

I'm not sure that this announcement has much commercial meaning at all, but it has this significance to me: Intel is into biometrics and is not going away, and so far has allied with IDX competitors only.

I now put Intel at the top of my strategic threat list.
