Watch out for the big bad Optimark which will simply CRUSH the Ashton system(s), ROFLMAO

from 8-23-99:

"The SEC is expected to announce imminently, possibly as early as today, its approval of Nasdaq's application to use the Optimark,,,,,,"

lol, well, guess this is wrong.

"Some industry officials have looked to the Nasdaq to jump start the Optimark system, after disappointing results so far...........as a facility of the Pacific Exchange. Trading volumes on the PCX/Optimark facility have plummeted roughly 80% since the system hit a monthly peak of almost 1 million shares a day in March, according to PCX statistics"

"PCX figures for July trading confirm further low levels this summer. According to PCX, the PCX/Optimark volume totaled 3,009,400 shares for the entire month, an average of just under 143,000 shares a day. And of that 143,000 daily average, an average of just under 44,000 shares a day were traded because of PCX/Optimark internal matches. Most of the rest were executed on the NYSE's SuperDot system."
