All I know is I have seen Linux running on PC's at 3 companies, including my own. In all cases StarOffice was the office suite. StarOffice has been available for free download for quite a while now.

This is interesting to say the least:
If the CBS story is to be beleived, then Sun Microsystems is buying one of the companies that is in direct competion with Applixware. What is scary is that APLX states the are dependant upon sales on Sun's products. Who will buy APLX's products now?
On the other hand IBM was also looking to buy StarDivision - if StarDivision is gone may be they may be interested in someone else. History says those behind the pack don't have much chance. How much are SUN paying for StarDivision? My guess is APLX is worth less that a fraction of that - it will be interesting to see this play out? Considering APLX's dependance upon SUN - why didn't SUN approach APLX, why didn't IBM approach APLX - or did they?
I'd love some intelligent comments from Applixware users/investors.
