You lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.

I was reading in a Canadian paper, a 76-year-old invalid man took in a young woman with a bad past, who was taking care of him. And she found $14,000 he had stashed in a bag in the deep freeze, and she stole it and went to a crack house. And someone at the crack house stole the money. And then she was arrested, and was found guilty, and she explained to the judge at the sentencing that she had not had the value of the money, as it was stolen from her. And the judge told her "you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas," and then gave her a heavy sentence. It would almost be worth the aggravation of being a judge to be able to say things like that.
