Botched Satellite Launch Delays Start of ICO's Cell Phone Services
Source: Comline Telecommunications

[ICO Global Communications], a would-be provider of satellite- routed
cellular phone services, was established primarily by member nations of
INMARSAT. The company has decided to delay the start of services originally
planned for September 2000 by a few months because the failure of the first
satellite launch earlier in July has pushed the schedule way back for the next
launch. The inaugural satellite would have facilitated terrestrial trials toward a
summer 2000 service start.
