Robert - Thanks for two excellent posts and the attempt to get the thread back on track..."review some of the basic concepts in daytrading"

I used to open the thread up with anticipation of reading posts that were pertinent to the threads "credo", informative, enlightening or a call for help and assistance. There are plenty of threads where I can find vendetta's (real or perceived) or responses to vendetta's and or posters "pet" theories or complaints...which have nothing to do with "daytrading fundamentals".

Please all who read and post...keep this thread pure and committed to the tenets that Eric so eloquently stated in the threads "mission".

I agree with Robert re: the "tools" that daytraders use to ply their trade with...computers and hardware, connectivity, quotes, execution software, add on trading software, etc.. Why do people continue to try to pursue daytrading on a "shoestring budget"...if I were starting out in daytrading my goal would be to equip myself with tools of such quality that my entire focus was on "trading", on finding my own individual trading "niche" -whether tape reading, TA or so on...granted all do not have the same budget but I do believe that within the "quality" that I am talking about there exists quite a range of potential budgets. The question is how can a daytrader not afford to have "good efficient working tools"?

I post part of this message with a little trepidation...that some will jump to their "defense"... I hope not, this is not an indictment of anyone but a plea for discussion of "daytrading fundamentals"

Bob,

Almost all of my losses come from poor decision making or risk management, not poor connections.

There's a tendency to believe that better, faster, sexier technology makes one a more successful trader. The truth is that most will fail due to lack of skill and/or discipline, not the lack of a T1 line.
