Unless some of those somethings run at least 700MHZ, Intel is going to look like it's lost the debate completely - for now. Whether it's 5 new chips or 10, if they all use the old pentium core, and they all run between 500 and 650MHZ, why bother releasing them at all? What difference does it make in terms of "capturing the debate?"

And unless rambus lets a 600MHZ pentium III beat a 600MHZ Athlon on floating point and games, rambus is going to be confirmed as a complete waste of money. There's one opportunity to make a difference in "capturing the debate."
