Terrence, Most European Countries are paying far more than
we are. I am not as troubled by paying Income Tax as I am at the way it is spent :-) Check Gasoline prices in Europe.That is the reason for so many bikes..We built Concrete jungles instead of bike trails :-) Where is the Mass transit system we desperately need. A $40,000 car insults my intelligence, particularly since it has no frame under all those computerized plastic death traps :-)

Unfortunately, there is no easy way out of our current dilemma. I believe a move in the right direction would be a national sales tax. Then perhaps slowly turning over larger and larger percentages of the sales tax to state and local governments would be the direction to head.

National Defense would always be a problem though.
