Previous post adding technical criteria: Note I've upped the criteria now to see if some of the same stocks will come up. Now adding relative performance for the 26 weeks in the top 90% and above percentile (you don't stocks like PLCE and laggards appearing). I left out the percentile here and just left the actual value of the criteria. You can also add criteria like 4% below the 52 week high (to give you room to grow), or below the 10 day moving average (to set the stage for a bounce off the 10 day moving average, a good strategy for short term gains on very strong stocks, that has fallen below its 10 day moving average). There are many cases of fundmentally strong stocks like KSWS, CHCS, BEBE or PLCE that have weak technicals. Added a very high percentile for the MACD HST weekly (90th percentile and above on the weekly MACD HST, which is for a longer term outlook). To keep an eye on the stochastics and Wilder you just 'display them' to see where they are today. Those with stochastic over 72 you have to be wary of, although a negative or low Wilder should keep a balance. The actual scan was 'abridged' here. Now you have results that are both techically and fundamentally in the 90th percentile Criteria Criteria Values __________________________________________________ REL PERFORMANC 26-WK between 90.0 and 99.0 (rank) EPS % CHG LAST QTR between 90.0 and 99.0 (rank) RETURN ON EQUITY between 95.0 and 99.0 (rank) 30-DY AVERAGE VOL between 100.0 and 999998.0 MACD HST 8/17/9 WK between 90.0 and 99.0 (rank) STOCH VAL 9/3 DY display only WILDER BRK 14-DY display only ****************************** Prosearch 5.0* Top Stock Report 08/28/99 ****************************** 1> AAPL - APPLE COMPUTER INC .DCS 26-Wk= 186.0 %cELt= 84.6 ROE = 31.5 AvgVl= 3680.0 Mc8wC= 124.0 Sto9V= 86.6 W14dB= -32.0 2> CTV - COMMSCOPE INC .EEE 26-Wk= 199.3 %cELt= 94.1 ROE = 26.1 AvgVl= 405.4 Mc8wC= 28.0 Sto9V= 45.0 W14dB= -9.0 3> PMCS - PMC-SIERRA INC .ESE 26-Wk= 270.3 %cELt= 87.3 ROE = 52.7 AvgVl= 1047.1 Mc8wC= 252.0 Sto9V= 65.1 W14dB= -2.0 4> CUTC - CUTCO INDS INC 26-Wk= 272.7 %cELt= 71.0 ROE = 40.6 AvgVl= 392.2 Mc8wC= 44.0 Sto9V= 73.1 W14dB= -248.0 5> IDPH - IDEC PHARMACEUTICALS CORP .DBI 26-Wk= 300.7 %cELt= 81.8 ROE = 29.0 AvgVl= 560.3 Mc8wC= 556.0 Sto9V= 60.0 W14dB= -2.0 6> AGY - ARGOSY GAMING CORP .LCG 26-Wk= 335.7 %cELt= 2600.0 ROE = 48.1 AvgVl= 284.3 Mc8wC= 22.0 Sto9V= 77.9 W14dB= -14.0 7> EMLX - EMULEX CORP .DCO 26-Wk= 345.6 %cELt= 119.6 ROE = 24.5 AvgVl= 201.4 Mc8wC= 56.0 Sto9V= 79.6 W14dB= -29.0 8> KIDE - 4 KIDS ENTMT INC .SER 26-Wk= 661.0 %cELt= 160.0 ROE = 33.6 AvgVl= 830.3 Mc8wC= 430.0 Sto9V= 53.6 W14dB= -2.0 You can choose type of stock you want based on any criteria. For strong momentum plays, I 'go to town' looking for highest volatility, yet strong technical rank, just close to MACD histogram, MACD, 10 day moving average breakout.. (you can do this by putting in absolute values instead of rank and value i.e. looking for a stock with a 10 day moving average of 136 will almost assure you of a potential short of course there must be confirming indicators) P.S. AGY and IDPH were also on the previous scan, but I had left them out for brevity.
