The Broncos are still in prior to preseason form. They are merely a shadow of last year's. It is looking like a tough year for Brister, who looked very inept thus far - can't read defense, no accuracy, easily rattled, and poor decision. Brister is a great sub, but a lousy starter. Will Shanahan let Griese get his feet on the hot coal soon? I doubt it. All this only shows the greatness of Elway.

This caught my attention today, from page 92 of Mike Shanahan's book:

Discussion of a Broncos CB in late 1980s who would stand still through one-on-one drills with WRs. To quote,

The defensive coordinator or defensive backs coach might challenge him every now and then, but Dan Reeves, who was the Broncos coach at the time, wouldn't say anything. He wouldn't chew him out. Dan just watched him loaf.

Is Dan a softee? I realize Shanahan and Reeves are enemies, so the question is real, is Reeves too soft? Or is Shanahan a fiction writer?
