HI Myron,

No, the price does not have to be above the 40MA (if long)...but it must be in an uptrend. The definition of that has changed as BTTT has evolved. Mostly I eyeball the lows over the past 6 to 10 weeks; and if they are higher, generally, then I'd call it an uptrend. One can also use MACD signal crosses, or two different MA's, with the shorter above the longer (i.e., e.g., the 20MA above the 50MA signals an uptrend).
